André Nijhof (1969) is full professor in the fields of Sustainable Business and Stewardship.
He started his career with a Master´s degree in Business Administration from the University of Twente. He continued his working life as a researcher of organisational change in multinational companies like Akzo Nobel, Asito, Shell Pernis, Stegeman Sara Lee and Vredestein.
Based on his research he finished his PhD at the University of Twente just before the turn of the century (1999). Next he became a senior consultant at Q-Consult, where he specialized in corporate social responsibility and the implementation of management systems.
Some of his major projects were at Corus, ABN Amro and KPN. Many other projects were in small and medium-sized companies in the construction industry, reintegration services and outdoor organizations.
Since 2007 he has been associate professor at the European Institute for Business Ethics, part of Nyenrode Business Universiteit. From 2010 until 2014, André was also the Master of Science in Management Program Director. Much of his recent work has focused on embedding Corporate Social Responsibility in the core processes of an organization.
He is especially interested in how the creative potential of organizations can be used as a source of new business development towards sustainable products, processes and business models. His research has practical implications for issues such as implementing codes of conduct, developing strategies for corporate social responsibility and for partnerships between corporations and their stakeholders. He was project leader within the Dutch National Research Program on CSR and lead several research projects as part of the Process and System Innovation Program (PSIBouw).
André Nijhof has published widely in international and national journals, next to reviewing articles and editing special issues for journals like Management Decision, Journal of Business Ethics and Corporate Governance; The International Journal for Business in Society.
He has worked with many leading businesses including Asics, Rabobank, Shell and Vebego.
He has also worked with international institutions such as the Global Reporting Initiative, the European Union and the Transparency Benchmark of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
At Nyenrode Andre works on executive education programs like CSR in Action! and Triple P Business Development, In-company training sessions, workshops on dilemmas and courses for the MSc in Management and International MBA programs at Nyenrode Business Universiteit.
Next to his appointment at Nyenrode André Nijhof is a visiting professor at Upeace University (Costa Rica). Furthermore, he is a Member of Board of Trustees “Centrum Goud”. He also gives lectures at the Executive Master of Actuarial Science of Actuarieel Instituut and TIAS School for Business and Society.
