The first professional training course of BUFT Centre for CSR and Sustainability (BCCS) was successfully delivered to the Dutch buyer suppliers on December 4, 2017 at BUFT main campus, Nishatnagar, Turag, Dhaka.

The event was graced by Mr. Muzaffar U. Siddique, Founder Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUFT and Chief Patron, BCCS. The training title was “CSR and the Dutch Covenant on Sustainable Garment and Textile”. This was the first of a series of training and the next training will be offered in February 2018. The training was conducted by Mr. Michiel van Yperen, Transition Manager, CSR Netherlands and Mr. Sander van’t Foort, Faculty, Ede Christian University of Applied Sciences & Researcher, Nyenrode Business University, The Kingdom of Netherlands and was moderated by Mr. Mallick Rakibul Hasan, Business Development Manager, BCCS and Assistant Professor, BUFT. Thirty Three (33) trainees attended the training program from 17 Dutch buyer suppliers and certificates were distributed among the participants at the end of the program.

An intensive workshop on ”Research Methodology & Techniques” was organized for the faculty members of BUFT NICHE Team on June 05, 2017. It was a initiative of NICHE (Netherlands Initiative for Capacity Development in Higher Education) project. Professor Dr. Andre Nijhof from Nyenrode Business University conducted the four hours workshop focused on qualitative research. Twelve researchers of NICHE Team participated in this workshop.


Seventeen Faculty Members completed training in Nyenrode Business University Netherlands under NICHE, Project funded by Dutch government

Seventeen faculty members of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology took an extensive training conducted by Nyenrode Business University (NL). The training was part of an M.Sc level programme being offered to the selected faculties of BUFT under NICHE (Netherlands Initiative for Capacity Development in higher Education) project. It’s a Dutch funded 4 year project to bring better CSR, SRHR & Innovative leadership in practice for RMG sector in Bangladesh. BUFT, the Flagship University of BGMEA, was awarded this project by the Dutch mini, in 2013. Currently capacity development phase is going – on. The vision of this project is to ensure a sustainable RMG sector in our country BUFT will establish a – specialized CSR centre in this regard very soon. With increased knowledge of better practices, it’s expected that the faculty members will contribute to bringing significant positive change in the industry through consultant, knowledge sharing, curriculum development, training tt awareness building. Leadership Workshop and Exposure Visit to Sri Lanka by the NICHE Team

This report details the activities and outcomes of the Leadership Workshop and Exposure Visit to Sri Lanka by the NICHE Team of the Faculty of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology, BUFT held between 26th and 31st March 2016. This exposure visit was funded by the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs under NUFFIC NICHE Project BGD 199 ‘Corporate Social Responsibility, SRHR and Innovative Leadership in the Readymade Garment Sector in Bangladesh’.


The purpose of this visit was to build knowledge and understanding of best practices in the RMG sector of Sri Lanka with particular emphasis on lessons learned with regard to corporate social responsibility, green production, sustainability, women’s empowerment, SRHR and innovative leadership. In addition, the faculty members would participate in a personal leadership workshop conducted by MDF and in various team building activities.

CSR Course Incorporation at Undergraduate Level of BUFT

According to the suggestion from Curriculum Development (CD) Team (Team Members- Mr. Michiel- Coach, Mr. Ahsan- Local Coach, Mr. Md. Idris Ali- team leader, Mr. S. M. Akterujjaman, Mr. Md. Arafat Hossain, Ms. Afroza Akter Rita) CSR course have been implemented at BUFT from Spring 2016 semester in all departments. As per the decision of the management this course was introduced in 131 batches of all departments. In both Spring 2016 and Fall 2016 semesters all together approximately one thousand (1000) students from different departments of BUFT have successfully completed CSR course as their one of the core courses in undergraduate programs.
